Q. What does your mobile ATM trailer need to operate?
A. For space the mobile ATM trailer requires an area of about 5 meters by 4 meters. For power we require a standard 10A power point within 5 meters of the ATM. The only essential requirement for all the ATMs is Telstra mobile phone coverage on site . This is critical for ATM transactions.
Q. What happens if there is no Telstra mobile phone coverage at our event? Can we get a refund on our booking fee?
A. BEFORE BOOKING WITH US, PLEASE CHECK TELSTRA MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION AT YOUR EVENT SITE.
If there is no Telstra mobile phone reception at the event site the ATMs will not work, the ATM trailer will then be taken back to base. No refunds will be given for any booking fees if there is no Telstra mobile phone reception. If in doubt please check with us a couple of weeks before hand so we can run some on site tests first.
Q. Do you have public liability insurance.
A. Yes. Our trailers have $20m coverage and the policy will be presented on request for your records.
Q. Do you charge the same amount for transactions as ATMs on the main street? A. No. This covers the cost of the mobile ATMs and the cost to build custom trailers. Customers are notified of the direct charge before committing to a transaction, a customer can then decide whether to go ahead with the transaction or not. The overwhelming majority of people are usually very happy to pay a little more for the convenience of quickly getting back to their friends, family and entertainment.
Q. Why should we place our money in the ATMs. A. We give you money back for every successful withdrawal. This is the opposite of EFTPOS where the bank charges you. As well all the money that is withdrawn from the mobile ATMs is then deposited back into your bank account. So you do not need to arrange for a large amount of cash to be transported to the bank saving you time and money.
Q. Where is the best spot for the Mobile ATMs? A. Near a food area as this is where most people are reaching for their wallet. When they find it is low, the next thought is where do I get some more money.
Q. I have never seen mobile ATMs before. Are they legal?
A. Yes, we are legal, safe and secure. Every ATM is registered with banking institute network. ATMs are actually very secure. Only eight digits of any account number is stored on the ATM which is not enough to access an account. All transaction details are encrypted and no ATM owner has access to this information. Our ATMs are moved every day, are examined by our technicians several times a day, so it’s very unlikely for our ATMs to be touched by the bad guys. As far as skimming goes we know our ATMs are safer than fixed ATMs.
Q. What about robberies? Aren’t you worried someone will try and steal an ATM?
A. This is a concern of course. If criminals want to steal money from an ATM they will have to break into it, and apart from the obvious; physical barriers such as the safe; there are usually people milling around at public events. Most people do not break into queues, they certainly would not break into an ATM safe. For the bad guys that do, by the time they start angle grinding the safe there would be people surrounding them, taking photos and placing them on social media! All ATMs are alarmed, have GPS tracking and many security features that make them nearly impossible to steal.
Q. What happens if someone does try and steal the Mobile ATM trailer? What should we do as an event organization?
A. The simple answer is to not interfere. If you do notice anyone trying to break into an ATM or attempting to steal a mobile ATM trailer please notify ATM Mobile NQ and the police. However, this is a VERY unlikely scenario. Probably less likely than someone trying to break into an ATM at a shopping centre as our ATMs are almost never unattended.
